MartensteinIn the beginning of World War II a young American swaps his identity with a young German soldier and goes to fight with the German Army on the eastern frontier. What he experiences there goes beyond any imagination. Finally he deserts and hides in the middle of Germany hoping that the war will end soon. Eventually the Americans invade Germany and our hero seems to be at the end of his journey. But his American identity has been destroyed; the Americans don’t believe him and imprison him as a German soldier.
